Today is Wednesday, May 18. This is a follow-up message about the fire at Crestview Heights School.
Early in the morning on May 13, there was a small fire at Crestview Heights School. An electric motor in the pump room that runs the fire suppression booster pump caught on fire. This is the pump that runs the fire suppression system in the school, more commonly understood as the fire sprinklers. The electric motor and pump for the sprinkler system were damaged, no longer operational, and needed to be replaced.
Tuesday afternoon, a temporary pump was installed and inspected by a qualified fire pump electrician and pump technician. With the installation and inspection of this system complete, this will conclude the required 24-hour “Fire Watch” as directed by the Oregon State Fire Marshal per the Oregon Fire Code. Permanent system upgrades have been designed and ordered and will be installed as they become available.
