Students attending school shall adhere to the following dress code:
- Students have a responsibility to accept administrator’s judgment and reasoning when discussing the conditions of cleanliness, modesty, safety, and disruptiveness. Students wearing attire which may be detrimental to the teaching/learning process will be required to change into appropriate clothing.
- No attire that makes reference to tobacco, alcohol, drugs, gang activity, sexual issues or displays distasteful, suggestive, or obscene language or illustrations.
- Hats are okay in the building between, but it’s the teacher’s discretion while in a classroom. Hoods are not to be worn during school hours.
- No clothing that reveals male or female under garments. A bra strap showing beneath a dress code appropriate top is okay.
- No clothing that exposes the midriff.
- Neckline of a top cannot be lower than the straight line from top of underarm across to opposite underarm.
- Shirts must have shoulder straps. i.e. no tube tops.
- Arm holes of shirt must not be so large that they expose the midriff or back.
- A shirt that exposes the upper back is ok, provided the top doesn’t fall lower than the top of one underarm across to the opposite underarm.
- Shorts or skirts must be fingertip in length: If the shorts or skirt are shorter than a student’s fingertips (when arms are fully extended to their side with relaxed shoulders), then the garment is too short.
- No holes in pants above fingertip length unless skin is covered at all times (leggings underneath or pockets sewn to pant leg).
- When leggings, yoga pants, etc. are worn as a primary garment, they cannot be sheer/see through.
- No sunglasses during school hours unless a prescription is provided by a doctor.
