SAT and ACT Testing Information

THE MAJORITY OF THE COLLEGES IN THE COUNTRY HAVE GONE TEST OPTIONAL AND/OR TEST BLIND FOR THE FALL 2026 ADMISSION CYCLE.

Some highly selective colleges are: reinstating the SAT/ACT requirement, Offering Test-Optional, but not Test Blind.  This means that some students are still submitting test scores to these schools, so if you have a very high score, you should submit it.  Most highly selective schools are waiving the SAT Subject test requirement for the Fall of 2026 admission cycle.

Fair-Test.org has a list of test-optional and test blind colleges:

All public colleges in Oregon have dropped the SAT/ACt requirement for the Class of 2026 admissions.  This means that ACT and/or SAT tests are not required for admission.

Students can still take the SAT/ACT if they choose. It is a good idea to take the ACT and/or SAT if you will be attending a 4 year college as your scores could help with scholarships.

There is free, licensed SAT/ACT Prep is available on the testing sites and also on Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org) You can personalize the SAT prep by doing a practice test on the Khan Academy.

The October and March SAT will be offered at Newport High School.   You can register at HERE

We will offer a school day Pre Act to sophomores every year.
