SAT and ACT College Admission Testing Information

It is recommended that a student take the SAT after they have completed Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry.  This can be in sophomore year or junior year.  A student should have taken at least two SAT’s by the end of Junior year.  There is no penalty for taking the SAT multiple times.  Most colleges will “SuperScore” a student, which means the school will take the highest Reading and highest Math scores from all of the scores the student has.

There is free, licensed SAT Prep available on Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org) You can personalize the SAT prep by linking your PSAT scores with Khan Academy.

The December SAT will be offered at Newport High School.   You can register at HERE

The ACT is the other college admissions test.  Students should do practice tests for both the SAT and the ACT to see which test they score higher with.
